Casper vs Nectar – Delivery & Unboxing:

nectar vs tuft and needleThe Casper mattress comes shipped to your home for free like most mattress you buy offline. It will arrive at you home in a compact cardboard box, once there all you need to do is unpack it and begin to let it expand. The Casper will weigh around 85 pounds at its queen size and the weight will go up or down depending on what size of mattress you choose to buy. It is also made to work with any type of bed frame or without a box spring underneath it. And it’s made in the USA to help with quality control.

The Nectar mattress will also be delivered to your door completely free of charge. The Nectar will arrive to you quickly, generally within a few days after you place the order. This is thanks to the fact Nectar has several different warehouses located throughout the U.S.A ready to ship your mattress out at a moments notice.

Nectar is manufactured in China though and then sent to the USA for storage. You should keep in mind that this means that the Nectar is made under different safety standards than we have in the states. The Nectar mattress will weigh 70 pounds and be a hassle to move by yourself.

Casper vs Nectar – Off Gassing:

Both the Casper and Nectar mattresses will have some off-gassing when you open them. The Nectar, of course, will have more than the Casper thanks to the long shipping process from China and the difference in materials used to make it. If the smell of the mattress bothers you we recommend giving the product up to 24 hours in an open room to air out. We also recommend opening a window during this process to give the fumes a place to go. This will also give your mattress plenty of time to expand and fully firm up as well.

layers of mattress foamMaterials And Layer Comparison:

Both of these mattresses have several layers of foam to help create a comfortable sleeping surface for you. Casper does win out in this categories since the materials in it seem to be higher quality. This is also due to the fact that the Nectar is manufactured in China in comparison, to the Casper being manufactured in the USA with guaranteed premium materials. However if it’s a thicker mattress you want, the Casper does offer an additional inch. Making both of these mattresses appealing in their own rights.

Casper Materials:

The Casper mattress is a combination of 4 layers of foam in a 12-inch thick mattress. The first layer of the Casper is made up of breathable comfort layer. This layer is made to have a good amount of bounce that helps the bed easily return to its original foam after use. This layer also works to keep you from sinking too far into the bed with its elasticity while still managing to have a soft feel. The layer is also made to be breathable and help reduce the heat retention of the bed.

The second layer of the Casper mattress is made up of a memory foam that is made to conform to your body. This layer also helps with relieving pressure points to help reduce the amount of toss and turning you do while sleeping. This layer also helps the Casper be more comfortable for sleepers who prefer to sleep on their side. The third layer is made of a transitional poly foam. This layer helps add a deeper comfort to the mattress while evenly distributing weight across it.

The last layer is the base foam layer that helps support the majority of the bed while still providing you with deep comfort. This layer is made from dense poly foam. These layers are wrapped in a premium woven polyester cover. The woven cover is made to be durable and soft to the touch. It has a gray and white colored design to give the mattress an aesthetically pleasing look.

Nectar Materials:

The Nectar mattress is an 11-inch thick mattress with 5 layers of foam. The first layer of the Nectar mattress is made of a TENCEL Cooling Layer. The TENCEL layer is made to promote airflow to help keep things cool. It also is resistant to bedbugs and has technology in it to help wick away heat. The second layer is made of Quilted Gel Memory Foam. This layer provides loft and air circulation to give you a comfy and cool layer. It also acts to contour perfectly to your body making sure that every inch of you is cradled in soft foam without running too hot.

The third layer of the Nectar mattress is made of a Gel Memory Foam. This Layer helps distribute weight across the bed while acting to give your pressure relief. The fourth layer is made up of Adaptive Hi Core Memory Foam. This is a recovery layer made to help support your body in various ways. It provides both rebound and bounce to do this, making it easy to turn in bed without a ton of resistance. The final layer is the breathable base layer. This layer helps the bed contour to your body while providing the core support for the bed.

Casper Mattress Comfort:

casper bed sittingCasper has a universal approach to comfort as seen in this mattress. The mattress has a medium firm feel to it and ranks at a 6 to a 6.5 on the ten-point firmness scale. This makes this mattress cater to most types of sleepers out there. The Casper has a wonderful amount of response and lumbar support. It also contours to your body nicely making in the perfect pick for sleepers who are looking for a supportive but comfortable bed.

The Casper will be perfect for both back and side sleepers thanks to its contouring. It also will work well for stomach sleepers who need a little bit of support to keep their back from bowing during the night. The only downside to the Casper is that some sleepers may find it to be too firm for them. If you are a heavier sleeper you may also be a little disappointed to find that the Casper may not give you the support you need. Back sleepers may also end up wanting a little more firmness during the night. Overall though, the Casper mattress will work well for most sleepers.

Nectar Mattress Comfort:

nectar mattress reviewThe Nectar mattress also goes for a universal feel in order to cater to the most sleepers. The Nectar has a medium-firm feel to it and ranges from a 5.5 to a 7 on the ten-point firmness scale. Thanks to this the Nectar mattress will work well for most types of sleepers.

You should note that this mattress is slow responding. This means that the bed won’t contour to you quickly when you turn. This can give you plenty of time to find a comfortable spot, but if you like to settle in quickly could be a bit annoying. Once you’ve settled in through the bed will cocoon to your body nicely, and give you pressure relief. You may find that once it has contoured to you it will be a little hard to change position though. This makes the Nectar also sleep a bit warm as the foam will quickly heat up around your body.

We do speculate a little on the quality and durability of this mattress. The Nectar is manufactured in China making us a little bit wary about how long it will hold up.  It does have an extra long sleep trial though for anyone who’s curious to try it out.

Casper vs Nectar – Motion Transfer:

Both the Casper mattress and the Nectar mattress play their part in isolating motion transfer. The foam layers naturally absorb motion vibrations keeping them from transferring to your partner. These mattresses are perfect for sleepers who tend to toss and turn during the night. They will keep you from disturbing your partner and are a perfect pick if one of you is a light sleeper.

Casper vs Nectar – Temperature Regulation:

casper wave mattressThe Casper mattress does its part to keep you from overheating during the night. Casper uses plenty of technology to fight off the natural heating effects of its foam layers. First, the cover of the bed is made to be breathable while dissipating heat away from your body. The bed’s firmness also keeps you from being sucked into the foam. The top layer of the Casper also uses open cell technology to help promote airflow. All of this works together to let heat escape from the mattress and give you the support you need to not be engulfed it the foam as you sleep.

Foam mattresses are naturally heat retaining meaning companies can have a hard time keeping things cool at night. Unfortunately, the Nectar mattress may not be the best choice for someone who is heat sensitive. The Nectar does use several layers with heat dissipating elements to keep the bed from getting unpleasantly hot. The cover helps dissipate heat and the firmness keeps you from completely sinking into the mattress. This makes the Nectar a good choice for sleepers who get cold easily at night.

Casper vs Nectar – Edge Support:

nectar mattress reviewThe Casper mattress has a normal amount of edge support for a memory foam mattress. Every inch of the Casper is usable. If you like sleeping on the edge you can do so, but edge sitting is pretty much out of the question. The only thing the Casper will support with edge sitting is short activities like putting your shoes on for work.

The Nectar mattress has ok edge support standards. The bed doesn’t give you a ton of support but you can still sleep on the edge. Still, most of the Nectar mattress will be usable, just don’t expect the bed to be the most supportive mattress you have ever laid. Edge sitting is also mostly no go with this mattress and I would only suggest using it for even short activities like the one mentioned above for Casper.

Casper vs Nectar – Value:

There isn’t a huge difference in price when it comes to these two mattresses. The Nectar is, of course, a little bit cheaper by around $50 after our coupon. You should keep in mind that the Casper does win most categories and is manufactured in the USA. The Casper also has a shorter warranty, but it still on par with the industry standard. When all is said and done the few extra dollars for a more reputable brand is favorable. Giving the edge to Casper yet again.

Casper vs Nectar – Additional Information:

Both the Casper and Nectar mattresses have a good amount of customer support behind them. These companies also both offer a sleep trial period for their products. The Casper comes with a 100-night sleep trial period. The Nectar, on the other hand, gives you a full year to try out their mattress. If for any reason your choice doesn’t work out for you then returns are easy. This takes all the hassle out of finding the perfect mattress for your home.

Casper vs Nectar – Summary:

casper vs yaasaBoth the Casper and Nectar mattresses have several pros and cons. For starters, they do both ships to your house completely for free in compact boxes. They also both will need time to air out and have some off-gassing. Nectar does have more off-gassing than Casper and is originally made in China. In comparison, Casper is made in the USA and gives us a little more confidence in the materials used to make it. The Casper also runs a lot cooler than the Nectar mattress. The Nectar mattress does run warm and will only be good for the sleeper who get cold easily while they sleep.

Both mattresses do have a medium-firm feel to them making them great for all types of sleepers. With the Nectar though you should be aware that it responds slowly to your movements, but once it conforms to you it’s a bit hard to change positions. The two also don’t have a huge price gap, but the Nectar is the cheaper option. Along with this the Nectar has a longer warranty and sleep trial. We still can’t help but be a little bit wary of how the Nectar was manufactured though.
