With a brand that offers several options you’ll really get whatever you need. Though each of the GhostBed mattresses has their own unique qualities, they all deliver on comfort and support. When you are able to see each of them all together it will help give you a better idea which one will be the best Ghostbed for you. Below we will briefly review each Ghostbed. As well as our recommendations on which one would be best for you depending on your specific sleeping needs.
The GhostBed is their original mattress that was first created and offered by GhostBed. The simple design was built to be comfortable for the majority of sleepers of all different shapes sizes and preferences. The comfort level is on the firmer end of medium on the firmness scale.
This makes the classic GhostBed mattress good for stomach sleepers and back sleepers. The latex and memory foam comfort layers may be enough pressure relief for some side sleepers as well, although it will likely be to firm for the average side sleeper.
The GhostBed Luxe was the first addition to the GhostBed family. While it is also an All-Foam construction it is easy to see that GhostBed want to create a cooler sleeping mattress. One downfall to memory foam is that it tends to hold onto heat. So they put loads of different cooling materials all throughout the Luxe bed to ensure that it is one of the coolest sleeping all-foam beds on the market.
The first option out of the GhostBed collection to feature a hybrid construction, and GhostBed did it the right way. Their Flex mattress has an individually pocketed coil system with reinforced edges to insure you have support throughout the entire mattress. The 13″ thickness creates a sturdy durable feeling mattress that will still fit nicely in most fitted sheets nicely. (Unlike some overly luxurious mattresses with extra lofty pillow tops.)
You still get that same contouring comfort of the GhostBed gel memory foam as well. So you really get the best of both worlds with the GhostBed Flex mattress.
By far the most unique and luxury offering from GhostBed. The newest addition to the family, 3D Matrix is so called due to their new 3D Matrix Polymer gel layer. This layer is new technology to the bedding industry. While gel has been introduced into foams to make them cooler, this gel takes it to the next level. Not only is this feature great for temperature regulation, it also contours to the shape of your body to alleviate any pressure points.
It also has the same coild system of the GhostBed Flex has plus some other new cooling and comfort features as well. Keep reading to help determine which is the right GhostBed for you.

If you have been looking through the GhostBed website, then you are likely confused on why we did not choose the GhostBed Luxe to be the most cool sleeping mattress. GhostBed put a lot of cooling materials into their Luxe mattress to make sure it sleeps as cool as possible. However, they also put a lot of new cooling materials into the GhostBed 3D Matrix as well and the Matrix is a hybrid mattress. While the Luxe is an all foam bed.
Since the Luxe is a foam bed it is dense with very little airflow through the center of the bed. While the Matrix 3D’s coil systems provides plenty of airflow throughout the center of the bed allowing much more area for retained heat to escape the mattress. This combined with the new cooling features in the 3D is why we pick it as our winner. Although if you prefer an All-Foam mattress that sleeps cool, then the Luxe is the way to go.

The same features that make foam based beds great for pressure relief, also make them less desirable for edge support in a mattress. Without reinforced edge support, foams will over compress around the edges giving a bed that “rolling out” feel.
If you are wanting extra edge support for sleeping close to the perimeter and for sitting purposes, then we suggest going with the Flex or 3D Matrix beds. Not only do they have more support because they are hybrid mattresses, they also both have reinforced edges. Meaning around the perimeter of these beds the coil system is made out of tighter, stronger coils.
This way you can comfortable sleep right up to the edge of your bed without loosing support or sit on the side without any falling or slipping feeling.
It was a close tie between the Luxe and the Original for the Motion Transfer category. However, the Original GhostBed has a top layer of latex which is naturally more buoyant. While we love latex in a bed, and it is great for making it easier to switch positions or get out of bed comfortably, it will be a little springier than memory foam.
The Luxe has a top comfort layer made out of memory foam which is really the best material for deadening vibrations and limit motion transfer throughout the bed. Making Ghostbed Luxe the best GhostBed for Motion Transfer.
All of the GhostBed mattresses fall into the same firmness level, a universally appealing medium-firm feel. The Luxe, Flex, and 3D Matrix all range from 5.5-6.5 on the firmness scale. They also all have contouring materials and supportive features. Which really leaves them with such similar features that it is purely up to personal preference as to which of these three would be best for Back or Side sleepers.
However, there is a clear winner for which mattress is best for stomach sleepers and that is the Original GhostBed Mattress. This has a firmer feel to the bed which makes it suitable for the needs or stomach sleepers. This could also work nicely for side and back sleepers who prefer a Medium-Firm feeling bed.
When it comes to choosing the top mattress for value we try to determine which mattress is giving you the most comfort technology and bed for your money. Which can be different than which mattress comes in at the lowest price point. We took a good look at all of the features for each of these beds and have determined that the GhostBed Flex is giving you the most bed for your money.
The Flex has a hybrid construction and contouring memory foam comfort. It also has special cooling materials and even reinforced coils around the perimeter. While the GhostBed 3D has more of the newest flashy materials that could be luxuriously comfortable, the Flex is a very comfortable sturdy bed with a lot of the same foundational features with a lower price tag.
At the end of the day keep in mind that whatever mattress has the features that you are most interested in having in the bed is going to be the best value for you. So always choose the mattress that is calling out to you and your needs.
GhostBed has a great variety of beds that is really going to appeal to a large selection of sleepers. If you are looking for a go to affordable mattress that suites the needs of many (great for guest bedrooms) then you are really going to enjoy the Original GhostBed mattress. While if you are looking for a luxury mattress with all of the bells and whistles then the 3D Matrix might be the bed for you.
Then there is the Luxe which is great for those who love an All-Foam feel but want to sleep as cool as possible. And finally Our Sleep Guide’s go to pick out of the GhostBed collection, the GhostBed Flex. We pick this mattress as our favorite because it is the Goldilocks of the bunch. Not too hot and not too cold. It has the benefits of the hybrid and the contouring comfort from memory foam all while coming in at a lower price than the 3D Matrix.
