DreamCloud Overview:

saatva vs dreamcloudThe DreamCloud hybrid mattress launched in 2018 making it one of the newer models out there. With its one universal feel and thick profile this true hybrid has appealed to many. Combining layers of memory foam with latex over a coil system makes for a bed that sounds very appealing, especially for comfort. The DreamCloud also offers a forever warranty with their products and even gives you a full year to try out the mattress.

One drawback with this brand however is the potential long term quality that comes with it. Each DreamCloud mattress is made overseas with no regulations that any competing USA mattress would have in place. Giving some skepticism to the durability and longevity this bed will provide. As well as the foam and coil quality, including health and safety standards. With the extended warranty and trial period there is some relief in knowing that if this bed doesn’t feel like it will hold up that you can return it for a full refund within the first 365 days.

Saatva vs DreamCloud – Delivery & Unboxing:

saatva mattress reviewLike many of the mattresses that you can buy offline Saatva gets your new bed to your home for free. The only difference is that they do it through a white glove service instead of compacting it in a box and shipping it through the mail. All you need to do is let Saatva know when is the best time for your mattress to be set up and they will be there.

Other than that you just need to be home to let them in the door and tell them where you want it. For an additional fee, they will even take away your old mattresses as well. The Saatva mattress is made in the USA and leaves the warehouse to come straight to your home so you won’t have a long wait. you also won’t have towait for it to expand before sleeping on. As soon as it is delivered it is ready to go.

DreamCloud is also delivered to your door completely for free. The DreamCloud isn’t going to be set-up for you though. Instead, the bed is compacted into a cardboard box then sent out. You should also note that the bed will weigh around 94 pounds making it a chore to move on your own.

DreamCloud is also NOT made in the USA. In fact, the mattress is packed overseas and then sent to a US warehouse to await shipment to your home. This will make for the expansion of the mattress take a little longer since it sits in the box for an extended period of time. It will definitely take several days for this mattress to fully expand and the true feel to come through.

Saatva vs DreamCloud – Off Gassing:

our rating guideWith the Saatva mattress, you won’t have to worry about most off-gassing at all since it is never compressed. This USA made product is wrapped in plastic to protect it but other than a few “new” mattresses smells, nothing much with the Saatva will linger. In fact the mattress will easily breathe and dissipate within a very short period of time.

The DreamCloud mattress, on the other hand, will have some off-gassing and you will need to call a friend to help you maneuver the bed. We recommend not only giving the mattresses plenty of time to expand but at least 12 hours to air out any smells. The long time spent in the box will thoroughly trap any odors too. If you are sensitive to smells then we do recommend giving this mattress 24 hours to air out in an open room. As well as opening a window to help dissipate the smells.

Saatva Mattress – Materials:

saatva mattress materialsThe Saatva mattress is available in two different height options, a thick 14.5-inch option, and a slimmer 11.5-inch option. These mattresses do use the same types of layers, but they look aesthetically different and have slightly different feels. The first layer of the Saatva mattress is the organic cotton cover and euro pillow top layer. This layer is made to protect your mattress while giving you a comfortable top layer. The next layer is the lumbar enhancement layer. This layer is made to help alleviate pressure and tension from the lower back while providing you with a luxurious feel.

The third layer is the first coil layer, a system of 884 individually wrapped coils. This layer provides support and contouring comfort to your body. The last layer is the support layer made up of 416 everflex coils. This layer provides more bounce to the bed while giving it durability and core support.

Around the mattress is an edge support system that gives the bed edge to edge support making the whole mattress usable for sleep. This makes the Saatva a wonderful choice for those who like to sleep on the edge of their mattress rather than in the middle. This is all protected by a soft 100% organic cotton cover. This gives the mattress a clean look while adding a natural and soft cushion.

DreamCloud Mattress – Materials:

The DreamCloud mattress is a super thick 15 inches with 8 different layers. The mattress is a mix of foam and coils like the Saatva. The first layer in the DreamCloud mattress is the True Tufted cashmere top that helps protect the mattress from stains. The second layer is made of gel infused memory foam. This layer is made to contour to your body while also having cooling properties. The third layer is made of super soft quilted memory foam to give you an even deeper feeling of comfort when sleeping on the DreamCloud mattress. The fourth layer is made of supreme natural latex. This layer like most latex layers will help give the bed plenty of bounce.

The fifth layer of the DreamCloud is made of Dreamplush support memory foam. This layer will give your body the support you need while still helping give you deeper comfort. They make the sixth layer of super dense memory foam. The next layer is the coil layers. This layer is made up of the brands bestrest coils. This layer helps give the bed both bound and durability. The last layer of the DreamCloud is made of high-density memory foam. This is the core support of the bed and helps keep you from sinking too far into the foam layers.

Saatva Mattress – Comfort:

saatva mattressThe Saatva mattress comes in three different comfort levels for you to choose from. The first of these is the soft option which will be perfect for side and back sleepers. This option allows you to sink into the foam instead of laying more on top of it.

The next option is the luxury firm option which can work for any type of sleepers. This option falls at about a 5.5 out of ten on the comfort scale making it a great choice all around. The last option is the firm Saatva. This pick is better for back sleepers who are looking for more support and stomach sleepers. This option will also be cooler since it doesn’t allow you to sink far into the foam.

If you are a heavier sleeper then you may want to go with the firm and luxury firm options. These two options can still provide you with the support you need without feeling too soft. The Saatva mattress will also run pretty neutral during the night thanks to its design and the coil layers that naturally let air flow through the mattress. This mattress will give you plenty of room to toss and turn while you sleep. You will also be glad to know that the Saatva provides support where you need it to help you wake up feeling more well rested.

DreamCloud Mattress – Comfort:

dreamcloud mattress reviewThe DreamCloud mattress uses a combination of foam and coil to create its feel. This mattress falls into the universal medium firm category and will be able to cater to most types of sleepers. It has plenty of bounce thanks to its coil and latex layer allowing you to easily move around during the night.

You will also find that the mattress provides you with lumbar support and has pressure relieving properties as well. The support from the coils is also solid to help make the whole surface of the DreamCloud usable for sleep. All these layers will also do a good job at isolating any motion that happens on top of the mattress.

The DreamCloud mattress is made for all types of sleepers, but some back and stomach sleepers may find that the bed isn’t firm enough. It also seems that heavier sleepers may have a softer feel out of the mattress.

Saatva vs DreamCloud – Motion Transfer:

glass of wine sitting on a bedMotion transfer can be a major deal breaker when it comes to you and a partner sharing a bed. A partner who tosses and turns during the night or gets up way too early can disturb your sleep. Thanks to this many mattresses do everything they can to make themselves have virtually no motion transfer.

Both the Saatva mattress and the DreamCloud mattresses layers help stop motion where it happens. Between the many foam layers and the coils, you won’t have to worry about your partner waking you up no matter which of these brands you choose to go with.

Saatva vs DreamCloud- Temperature Regulation:

The Saatva does a wonderful job at keeping a neutral temperature during the night. This is helped by the fact that the bottom layers are a coil on coil system. These layers allow air to easily flow through them instead of getting stuck like in most foam layers. The solid support of the bed also helps you sleep more on top of it instead of being engulfed in hot foam. The bed has plenty of response that will let you turn when things get too hot. Even the euro top cover of the mattress is made to be breathable to cut down on heat retention.

The DreamCloud mattress uses a few different tricks to help keep itself cool at night. Like in the Saatva mattress the coil layer helps air circulate instead of becoming entrapped. The mattress also has plenty of bounce thanks to the latex and coil layers that will keep you from feeling stuck in the foam. Some of the memory foam layers are even infused with gel so that they won’t retain as much heat. All this combined together keeps the DreamCloud from being unbearably hot during the night.

Saatva vs DreamCloud- Edge Support:

saatva mattress reviewEdge support can be one of the most overlooked categories when consumers start to shop around for a mattress. Without proper edge support though, you won’t be able to use every inch of the mattress for sleeping. In fact, a mattress with little edge support will force you to sleep more towards the middle so you won’t feel like you are sliding out of bed in the middle of the night. Luckily, both the Saatva and Dreamcloud do well in the realm of edge support.

The Saatva has a strong base that helps to hold you up throughout the night. This helps make every inch of the bed usable, and you can even go with a firmer option if you desire more support. The Saatva even has perimeter support built in to help support you even if you like to sleep on the very edge of the mattress. Edge sitting is even for stable on the Saava thanks to these features.

The DreamCloud also has an edge to edge usable surface. The multiple supportive layers combined with the coil layers give the DreamCloud mattress plenty of edge support. The DreamCloud won’t be that great for edge sitting, however, and you should only use the bed to put on your shoes or do other short tasks.

Saatva vs DreamCloud Value:

The Saatva is the cheaper of the two choices by far with the DreamCloud starting out over $1000. They include free white glove shipping with the purchase of the Saatva. They also make Saatva in the USA with more reliable materials. While the DreamCloud does have a forever warranty, you probably will only keep the mattress around 10-years for hygienic reasons. Saatva goes above the industry standard and gives you a 15-year warranty with your purchase. DreamCloud has a notably limited range of sizing options, which limit you when purchasing their bed. The overall value hands down goes to the Saatva. With quality materials, craftsmanship and integrity you can trust to provide a solid bed.

Saatva vs DreamCloud – Additional Information:

Both Saatva and Dreamcloud have wonderful customer service that will be glad to help you out with any of your inquiries. The brands both give you a sleep trial period to help you figure out if the mattress is the right fit for you. Saatva gives you 120-nights to try out your mattress. DreamCloud will allow you a full 356-days to out theirs.

 Saatva vs DreamCloud – Summary:

saatva mattress reviewThe Saatva and DreamCloud don’t have much in common outside of both being hybrid mattresses. Saatva comes shipped to your house with a free white glove set-up service. The DreamCloud comes shipped in a compact box. Saatva makes their mattresses completely in the USA and never compresses while they make the DreamCloud overseas and then sent to a warehouse to sit until purchased. Saatva has almost no off-gassing and is ready to use on arrival, while you may want to give the DreamCloud up to 24 hours to fully air out and expand.

DreamCloud is also more expensive than the Saatva by quite a bit but comes with a forever warranty. Saatva gives you a 15-year warranty though and has more reputable materials in it. You will also notice that DreamCloud gives you a full year to try out their product. While this is a nice touch we can’t help but worry that the mattress will degrade over time. Because of this, we do lean more towards Saatva, It’s the cheaper choice of the two and from a proven brand. Plus the white glove delivery service is a huge bonus for any mattress company to offer.
