Delivery:

The very first to do with our new Affluent Rest mattress by Sweet Zzz is take it out of the box and get it set up. It should show up right at your door and in a fairly compact 90 lb box, for a mattress anyway. Getting it to where it needs to go will take two sets of hands. It should only take a few minutes to get it out of the box and take it out of the plastic and come to life. It may take up to 24 hours for the mattress to fully expand and firm up, but you should be able to sleep on it in a few hours.

During the unboxing process you may notice a bit of off gassing but it should be very minimal, especially since it is not only made in the USA but also made to order too. This means it will be in the box for a very short period of time. With most boxed mattresses there will be a little bit of smell initially. Once it is allowed to unroll and take shape it should dissipate. It should be fine within a few hours but if you are more sensitive to certain smells letting it breath up to 12 hours would probably be a good idea.

We didn’t notice many fumes when unboxing and setting up the Affluent Rest mattress. One thing we did notice is that it took 24 hours for the mattress to fully firm up. The true feel of the mattress and foams does take a little time but will still be ready to sleep on in a few hours. Just note that the feeling of the mattress from your first night may feel a little softer than the second.

Frames and Bases:

When setting up your new mattress it will need a foundation that provides a flat, even surface that will support the weight of the mattress as well as the sleepers. Both layers are dense and durable and provide the ultimate pressure relieving and adaptable support to create a perfect balanced feel. This 12″ mattress has a one firmness that will have a medium firm feel and be around a 5.5 to 6.5 on a scale of 1 through 10 (1 being the softest and 10 the firmest.)

This mattress will be great for back sleepers and stomach sleepers. The medium firm feel will provide great support and the contouring memory foam will give good lumbar support. The Tanda mattress would be pretty good for side sleepers too and be just soft enough for your shoulder and hip to sink in. This comfortable yet supportive feeling mattress has plenty of dense core support from the base for proper alignment. However, the comfort layers really have the perfect balance of contour and pressure relief to make for a great night sleep. If you are a heavier person this mattress may work well for you but it will probably have more of a medium feel.

Our Sleeping Experience:

After sleeping on this mattress we can say that it has a very true memory foam feel. The comfort layers are slow responding and do hug your body nicely. As well as relieve pressure and support your lumbar area nicely. We both felt comfortable in all sleeping positions.

The only thing that does come with a slower responding memory foam mattress is the when changing positions you may feel a little stuck and the mattress does take a few extra seconds to readjust to a new position. The support of this mattress felt solid and durable. If you want a thicker, dense feeling memory foam mattress, than this one is one to look at.

Motion Transfer:

Like most all foam mattresses this mattress should have very little vibrations caused by movement. The foams should absorb the majority of vibrations and makes for very minimal to no motion transfer to be felt. The two layers of dense memory foam in the Affluent Rest do a great job of eliminating disturbances from moving or shifting while in bed. This mattress would be great for anyone who shares a bed because of this, there will be little disturbance when getting in and out of bed.

We found motion transfer on this mattress to be minimal during our time sleeping on it. The very dense memory foam layers did a great job of absorbing any excess movement. Sharing a mattress like this one is usually easy since the vibrations are kept to a minimum.

Sleeping Cool:

The Affluent Rest has focused on a few qualities to maximize the temperature regulation in this mattress. The top layers of memory foam is a unique O-Cell foam that has larger pores that help eliminate heat and moisture 3x faster than standard memory foam. This allows for more air flow and heat dissipation at a a quicker rate to help reduce heat retention.

This mattress also uses quality, dense foams that provide a medium-firm feel. This will help be keeping more of your body off the mattress where more air has the chance to circulate around you. They also use a very breathable and natural cotton cover. This keeps the direct surface of the mattress more neutral too. All these together create a cooler sleeping surface.

Though the Affluent Rest does use certain materials and technology to lessen the heat retention you may still want to look at a hybrid counterpart if sleeping hot is an issue for you. While sleeping on this mattress we noticed that you do tend to get stuck in one position in the dense memory foam layers.

This paired with the all foam base creates minimal options for this heat to escape. The fact that it is a little firmer does help with less of your body sinking into it. For any true memory foam mattress you will usually have to compromise on being a bit warmer for the hugging, cocooning feel of this bed.

Edge Support:

The edge support on the Affluent Rest by Sweet Zzz mattress should feel stable and create a solid, edge to edge usable sleep surface. The dense base foam paired with the supportive memory foam should create a durable perimeter. Sleeping on this mattress you are able to feel a consistent feel across the entire surface and not have a “rolling out of the bed” feel. As far as sitting on the edge goes, you will feel some support but it won’t be ideal for sitting on the edge.

This Sweet Zzz mattress had a nice consistent memory foam feel across the surface. The mattress was usable from side to side and edge to edge. The only thing is with memory foam is that it does sink in, so being right on the edge you may notice a bit of sinking, but the vast majority of the mattress is well supported for sleeping. We don’t typically sit on the edge of the mattress, but when did there was a little bit less support.
